Shinshiro 新城

愛知県の東部、東三河の中央に位置し、東は静岡県に接している美しい自然が多く残る町である。桜や紅葉が美しく「三河の嵐山」とも呼ばれる桜淵公園をはじめ、霊鳥仏法僧(コノハ ズク)の棲む山として全国的に知られ、国の名勝にも指定されている鳳来寺山など、市域に広がる国定公園・県立公園の指定区域には、特徴ある地形や豊かな植生、美しい景観が点在して訪れる人を魅了している。このほか、夏でも涼しくレジャースポットとして人気のある作手高原、1,300 年の歴史を誇る湯谷温泉、春の桜まつり・古城まつりや秋のもみじまつりなど四季折々のイベントがある。
Located in the eastern side of Aichi Prefecture and the center of the Higashi Mikawa Region, the City of Shinshiro is a town that has preserved much of its beautiful natural surroundings. Sakurabuchi Park, known for its beautiful scenery of the cherry blossoms in the spring and the changing colors of the leaves in the autumn, has been called the “Arashiyama of the Mikawa Region”. Horaiji Mountain, known nationally as the place where the Scops Owl calls it home, has been recognized as a scenic wonder, and the surrounding town’s quasi-national park and prefectural park, rich in vegetation, attracts many people to stop by and visit. In addition, Tsukude Kogen – known in the summertime as a refreshing leisure spot, Yuya Osen - the hot spring town which holds a 1300-year history, and numerous events throughout the year such as the Sakura Festival, Ancient Castle Festival, and the Maple Tree Festival, allows its visitors to feel the four distinct seasons.

ドイツ連邦共和国バイエルン州中西部、ドナウ河畔の平野に開けた、歴史の古い 美しい景観の城塞都市である。文化財が多くあり、それらの貴重な遺産を保存するために努力している。郊外にはドイツ空軍の基地がある。ドイツ国内には「ノイブルグ」という名の地名が複数あるため、それらと区別するために "an der Donau ("「ドナウ川沿いの」の意)が付けられる。
Located on the Western side of the state of Bavaria, Neuburg an der Donau is a beautiful historic town situated on old castle grounds. The town has many important cultural sites, and its citizens are actively making efforts to preserve many of its valuable cultural assets. The main sightseeing spot of the town is Neuburg Castle. Since there are many cities with the name “Neuburg” in Germany, the town added “an der Donau” (meaning: along the Donau River) to its name to distinguish itself from other cities.
Newcastle-under-Lyme ニューキャッスル・アンダー・ライム

イギリス、イングランド中西部、スタッフォードシャー県北西部の都市。周辺を含めてニューキャッスル・アンダー・ライム地区を構成する。ペナイン山脈南端部西麓、バーミンガムとリバプールのほぼ中間に位置する。市の名前は1145年頃チェスター伯が建てた新しい城 (ニューキャッスル) に由来。
Newcastle-under-Lyme is in North Staffordshire, halfway between Birmingham and Liverpool. It is situated on the western foot of the southernmost tip of the Pennines Mountain Range. The city takes its name from the new castle that was erected around the year 1145 by Ranulf de Gernons, the 4th Earl of Chester.

New Castle, Indiana was established in 1823 and named after the town of the same name in the neighboring state of Kentucky. Geographically, New Castle’s terrain can be characterized by flat to rolling terrain, and the city is surrounded by agricultural land. New Castle is home to the New Castle Fieldhouse, the largest high school gymnasi- um in the world, and the town has produced an extraordinary amount of basketball stars.

New Castle is a city in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Pittsburgh, near the Ohio border. It can be described as a quintessential American town with well maintained universities and hospitals. New Castle is known both as the “hot dog capital of the world” and the “fireworks capital of America.” Its famous chili dogs are the product of Greek immigrants who came to New Castle in the early 20th century and established restaurants along with their homes. Two local fireworks companies of international stature, S.Vitale Pyrotechnic Industries, Inc. (Pyrotecnico) and Zambelli Internationale established their names here, and because of their presence, the town became widely known for fireworks.

Newcastle, South Africa is the center of commerce for the Northern part of the province of KwaZulu-Natal and the third largest city of its province. The city was founded in 1864 and named after the Earl of Newcastle, who was the Colonial Secretary of Queen Victoria’s government during that time.
Akhaltsikhe アハルツィヘ

アハルツィヘは、ボツホヴィ川をはさんで北岸が旧市街、南岸が新市街になっている。ロムジアの名でも知られる。1576年にオスマン帝国領となり、1628年からは 同国のアハルツィヘ州の中心都市になった。露土戦争中の1828年にロシア軍により征服され、翌年のアドリアノープル条約の結果、ロシア帝国領となった。アハルツィヘは、17世紀に隆盛を誇ったオスマン・トルコの影響が強く残っておりアルメニア人、ユダヤ人が多く居住している。
Akhaltsikhe is situated on both banks of the Potskhovi River that separates the older part of town to the north and the newer part to the south. In 1576, the town became under the Ottoman Empire, and from 1628, it became the central town of the state of Akhaltsikhe. In 1828, during the Russo-Turkish War of 1828‒1829, Russian troops captured the town, and as a result of the 1829 Treaty of Adrianople, it was ceded to the Russian Empire. There are still traces of the Ottoman Empire left today, and in addition to the native Georgian population, there are people of Armenian, Russian, and Jewish descent.
Nové Hrady ノヴェフラディ

南ボヘミア地方にあり、オーストリア国境付近のまちである。この町が初めて記述されたのは1279年のことで ある。当時ノヴェフラディは交易路を守るためにヴィートコヴィツェ家によって建てられた城のある小さな町として知られていた。城は郊外に建設され、堀で囲まれていた。第二次世界大戦直後、この町はチェコスロバキア軍に占領され、その後はロシアの占領下にあった。しかし1989年に民主化され、新しい時代の幕開けとなり、ノヴェフラディでは、遺産や美しい自然への関心が高まり、観光産業が発展した。
Nové Hrady is a town in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic near the border of Austria. The town’s history dates back to a charter from the year 1279. It was known as a small village with a castle in the outskirts and a surrounding moat which was built by the Vítkovec family for the protection of the trade route. After World War II, Czechoslovak troops occupied the town. From 1989, after the postwar years of the Russian occupa- tion, the town saw the beginning of new era with the development of tourism due to renewed inter- est in its local culture, heritage, and nature.
Newcastle-upon-Tyne ニューキャッスル・アポン・タイン

ノーサンブリア州の州都であり、イングランド北部最大の町。町の歴史は2000年以上前にさかのぼり、ローマ時代にはすでにタイン川に橋がかけられ、ハドリアヌス の城壁の最北端であった。ニューキャッスルと呼ばれ るようになったのは11世紀。町の由来となった城壁は、現在でも鉄道駅の横にその姿を留めている。
Newcastle-upon-Tyne is the most populous city in the northeastern region of England. The city owes its name to the castle built in the 11th century, and its history goes back more than 2000 years. The first recorded settlement was a Roman fort and bridge across the River Tyne, where it was given the family name of the Roman Emperor Hadrian.
Jaunpils ヤンピルス

ヤンピルスのシンボルは、14世紀に建てられた城で、ヤンピルスの財産でもある。城は図書館の役割だけではなく、そこでプロの集団によってイベントが行われ、観 光客も魅了している。城、ルーテル教会(1801年に建 てられた)水車場などがヤンピルスの文化と歴史の中心となっている。産業は主に農業と食品加工である。
Jaunpils was established in 2009, amalgamating the former Jaunpils and Viesati rural municipalities. The main symbol of Jaunpils is the medieval castle from the 14th century. The castle not only performs the functions of a culture house and a library, but it also hosts numerous thematic and professional events making it a great tourism attraction. Jaunpils Castle, together with Jaunpils Lutheran Church (built in 1592), and the Watermill (built in 1802) forms the cultural historical center of the city. The local indus- tries are based on agriculture and food production, but there are also other successful small and medium-sized enterprises.
Village of Newcastle, Clarington ビリッジ・オブ・ニューキャッスル、クラリントン

1973年にボウマンビル、クラーク、ダーリントンが合併し 創設された。創設当初はニューキャッスルという名で あったが、混乱を避けるため1994年にクラリントンに改 称。クラリントンはクラーク、ダーリントンを合わせた混成 語。トロントから東へ80キロの場所に位置し、絵画のよ うな街で、緩やかに起伏している丘陵、農場、そして マリーナが美しく、多くのヨットファンを魅了している。こ のマリーナでは、毎年夏に木製ボートフェスティバルが 行われている。
In 1973, Newcastle was formed as a result of the merging of the three towns of Bowmanville, Clark, and Darlington. However, in order to avoid confusion, in 1994 the town of Newcastle was renamed “Clarington” by combining the former names of “Clark” and “Darlington”. Located 80 km east of Toronto, the Village of Newcastle is considered as beautiful as a painting with gently rising hills and rolling pastures. The beautiful Port of Newcastle Marina attracts many sailing fans and the Annual Wooden Boat Festival is held there every summer.
Nyborg ニイボーグ

「ニイボーグ」はニイボーグ城として、1193年に初めて デンマークの歴史文献に登場し、町自体は、1202年に登場した。1413 年まで立法と司法の場として、ニイボ ーグ城が使われていたので、この期間までは首都で あったと考えられている。ニイボーグでは風情のある 古くからのショッピング街や、野外のシアターなどを楽しむことができる。
“Nyborg” was first referenced in historical documents as “Nyborg Castle” in the year 1193, and the town itself was established in 1202. Until 1413, Nyborg Castle was a center of legislative and judiciary power and was recognized as the city’s capital. Nyborg today has an old town charm with a historic shopping street, and one can enjoy the oldest open-air theater in the country.
Nové Zamky ノヴェザムキー

ノヴェザムキーは首都ブラチスラヴァから約100km離れており、ハンガリー国境へは25kmほどである。南スロバキアの鉄道のハブ駅としても有名である。ノヴェザムキーでは、ハンガリーとスロバキアの料理が融合した食事を楽しむことができる。
Nové Zamky is located around 100 km from the capital, Bratislava, and it is 25 km from the Hungarian border. The city is a famous railway hub of southern Slovakia. The local cuisine is particularly unique, which is known for combining the best of Slovak and Hungarian gastronomy.
Newcastle, New South Wales ニューキャッスル（ニューサウスウェールズ）

Newcastle, Australia is a lively port city located about 3 hours north of Sydney along Australia’s beautiful eastern coastline. The city is characterized by its beach, low cost of living, temperate climate, and carefree lifestyle. In the past, it was known for its shipbuilding industry, but it is now the largest coal exporting harbor in the world. Newcastle is the second largest city in the state of New South Wales, and there are many restaurants, cafés, parks, gardens, art galleries, and shopping centers all throughout the city.
Kota Bharu コタバル

マレー半島の北東部・クランタン州の州都であるコタ バルは、タイ国境に近い人口約50万人の港町である。 マレー系、中華系、インド系など様々な民族が暮らす 多民族国家のマレーシアにおいて、住民の大多数が マレー系であるコタバルは、マレー文化が色濃く残る 街として知られている。またマレーシア国内で最もイス ラム色が強いといわれている。
Kota Bharu, located in the northeastern part of the Malay Peninsula is a port city with a population of about half a million people. Malaysia as a whole is a multi-ethnic country where people of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and many other ethnicities live. Kota Bharu in particular is known as a place where the Malay culture remains deep due to its large Malay population. In addition, it has been said that Kota Bharu’s Islamic culture remains the strongest in the entire country of Malaysia.
